Great websites

Posted by SalesianLibrary on September 14, 2009

While browsing around on the internet the other day I came across some great websites which I wanted to share with you all.

The first website is a very simple but helpful one, called OttoBib. This helpful little resource will help you generate a bibliography for any books you have used. All you have to do is enter the ISBN into the bar, choose which type of bibliography you need to make up and click Get Citations. Too easy!

Next is a website called MondoLibrary which is an image library. It contains photos which have been catagorised under the headings People, Society, Earth and Special. The site describes the photos as ‘award-winning, fair trade photography for the public interest community’. You may find these royalty-free images helpful for your next assignment or presentation.

Notely is another great website which contains all the tools a student could need. You can store you schedule, calendar, notes, homework plan and more on here. It’s a great tool if you want to get organised with your schoolwork.

Another great image website, that you might already know about, is GettyImages. All you have to do here is sign up to become a member and you have access to millions of royalty-free photos and images that you can use. GettyImages also contains footage and music that you might be interested in using.

I’ll try to post more of these websites on a regular basis.

If you’re in year 12 or doing VCE English this year you might be looking for some articles or information about issues that have been in the paper lately. And of course the library can help you with that.  🙂

I’ve made up a folder in Learning Point which you can find here. There’s a large range of topics you can find information on, the latest addition being about Rugby Players and standards of conduct. Other topics include bullying, sexualisation of children, teenagers and alcohol and many more.

There’s also a great website that I’ve linked to called Act Now where you can find a huge amount of information about many different issues. You can find articles which include links to some great newspaper articles. There are also areas where you can find videos, photos, stories, organisations involved with that particular issue and also how you can get involved.

Posted by SalesianLibrary on June 20, 2008

The Herald Sun is running a careers expo today and over this weekend (20 – 22 June 08 ) at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre Southbank. It looks really good and definitely worth the trip and the $12 admission fee! There’s going to be over 100 exhibitors, seminars and workshops, career tips and you can even take your resume along and get some help with that.

You can even win free tickets on the website –
