Welcome to 2010

Posted by SalesianLibrary on February 15, 2010

Welcome to 2010 everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday.

Keep watching this space for some great competitions we have planned for the future. One is a simple competition, where students can give us some ideas for Library displays. Then the student who enters with the most creative display idea will win  a prize. We’re also thinking of doing a writing competition about zombies and vampires, and the winner of that competition will have their work published here on the blog and possibly in the year book at the end of the year.

The Library also has some exciting plans that will hopefully come into fruition during the year!

Have a great year everyone!

Another year over

Posted by SalesianLibrary on November 26, 2009

I can’t believe another year is almost over! It seems just like yesterday that 2009 was starting, as cliche as that sounds. Just a reminder, for those of you who are still at school, that you are able to borrow books to read over the holidays. Each person is allowed to borrow up to 5 items each, although if you give us a big smile (and a bribe) we may be willing to give you a couple more.

Have a great holiday everyone!

Holidays & Envy, the new Luxe novel

Posted by SalesianLibrary on July 14, 2009

Welcome back from your holidays! I hope everyone enjoyed themselves, despite the cold weather. I can’t believe it’s already term 3! This year is going so fast.

I’ve arrived back to work with a few new novels on our shelves which was a bit exciting. Those who are reading the Luxe series by Anna Godbersen at the moment will be happy to know that the next book in the series ‘Envy’ has arrived and is ready for borrowing. We’ve also just received a few books from the Vampire Diaries series by LJ Smith.

Welcome back, 2009

Posted by SalesianLibrary on February 2, 2009

Welcome everyone to the 2009 school year. I hope your holidays were fun but restful. The Library has a few exciting things planned for the year. In fact, February is ‘Love your Library’ month so our wonderful Librarian Mrs Stanislawski has made up a display. Come into the library and check it out when you can.

Did anyone see the Twilight movie over the holidays? What did you think? As good as the book?

Another film that was based on a book, that I saw, was The Tale of Despereux which I thought was very cute. We’ve actually got the book here in the library, if you’ve seen the movie and want to give it a go, or even if you haven’t seen the movie.

There are quite a few books been made into movies this year so keep an eye out for them. These include:

So you might want to check out the books before you go see the movies! I know from past experience the book is almost always better than the movie, so it’ll probably be worth it.

Summer Reading

Posted by SalesianLibrary on November 18, 2008

Ever wanted to curl up inside or lounge out in the sun with a good book over the holidays, but haven’t found what you wanted to read in your personal collection? Well now you can borrow books from the library before you go on holidays!

The Library has recently changed our policy to allow borrowing over the Summer school holidays. Items will be due back in the first week of Term 1.
