High School Students Budget: $9.95 Movie Tickets

Posted by SalesianLibrary on August 3, 2010

I know how hard it is to get by on a low budget, especially that of a High School Student. But we all still need our entertainment and the cheaper, the better! Which is why I thought I’d share this recent deal that I found, with all of you. Through this website movie buffs can now get Hoyts movie tickets for only $9.95. If you’re going to take advantage of this deal you’ll have to do it quickly, as it ends in just under 16 hours. The tickets are valid for up to two months, for any movie session at Hoyts cinemas, except for sessions after 5pm on a Saturday.

Eclipse: Interview with Kristin Stewart & Taylor Lautner

Posted by SalesianLibrary on June 1, 2010

I saw this interview with Kristin Stewart and Taylor Lautner on the 7pm Project last night. It’s just a short one, but I think a good interview from both of them. They’re both in Australia at the moment because Eclipse, the third film in the Twilight series is due to come out at the movies soon. Enjoy!

Reading Blog

Posted by SalesianLibrary on May 28, 2010

Due to the fact that I’ve created this blog mainly for the students and staff at the school that I work for, I only write about books that we actually have in the library. But what you might not know is that I’ve also got another blog that I write which is a more general reading/book blog for all the books that I read. I enjoy reading both adult and young adult fiction, and every now and then some non fiction (mainly history based). So this other blog that I have, which is called The Readers Nook has reviews, wish lists, books that I’ve purchsed/borrowed/won and other interesting book related news. So if you’re interested in reading about books other than young adult fiction, head over to The Readers Nook and check it out.

Lunch time TV club

Posted by SalesianLibrary on May 6, 2010

The Library has decided to start up a TV club! We’ve decided to give this a try for a few weeks and see how many kids are interested. Mr James and I thought that this would be a good idea for Friday lunchtimes, especially during the cold winter weather which is approaching us at the moment. We at first thought of a movie club, but decided we had too little time to run this, so settled on playing TV episodes. We’re currently playing season 2 of The Big Bang Theory so come on down to the Library this Friday at lunchtime for some great comedy!

How Stuff Works

Posted by SalesianLibrary on May 5, 2010

How Stuff Works would have to be one of my favourite websites. It’s a fantastic resource which offers information on so many different topics from history to science to animals to entertainment and so on.

My absolute favourite parts about this site are the blogs that some of the staff writers write. Plus twice a week they also run podcasts about some of the topics they’ve written about, which are very interesting and very witty, especially the Stuff You Should Know ones. Each podcast is created by two staff writers and include titles such as Stuff You Should Know (my favourite), Stuff Mom never told you, Stuff you missed in history class, Stuff from the science lab and more. You can find these podcasts on the website or download them for free from iTunes.

Eclipse Posters take 2

Posted by SalesianLibrary on March 25, 2010

I’ve been in the process of collecting more Eclipse Posters for you all, since I saw that the last ones were so popular. Most are fan made, but I’ve thrown what I believe to be the official poster (the first poster) in there too. I love the ones of Bella in that white dress, she looks beautiful!

If you made any of these posters, please feel free to let me know and I’ll credit you accordingly.

Avatarred Celebs

Posted by SalesianLibrary on March 25, 2010

Another post purely for your amusement. Ninemsn has made up a slideshow here of celebrities that have been ‘avatarred’, including Robert Pattinson and Britney Spears. My favourites, though, would have to be Hugh Laurie

and Megan Fox still manages to look stunning

And of course I had to include this one of Rowan Atkinson, just because it made me laugh!

Thanks to Skerricks too for making me aware of this 🙂

You can also Avatar yourself with this photo editing website called Avatar Photo. You just select the effect you want, then upload a photo and the website does all the work for you. It’s very funny to see yourself ‘avatarred’, believe me I’ve tried!
