‘Tomorrow, When the War Began’ movie

Posted by SalesianLibrary on September 18, 2009

tomorrow

I’ve just found out recently that the book Tomorrow, When the War Began by John Marsden is to be made into a movie! Filming hasn’t started yet, as the movie has just been anounced but apparently Caitlin Stasey (Rachel from Neighbours) is to play Ellie, and Lincoln Lewis (Geoff from Home and Away) are set to play Ellie and Kevin.

You can find the IMDB entry here where they have a little bit of info about the movie and also a forum for questions/comments and news. You can also see some of the cast listed here although most of them aren’t listed on IMDB yet so I’m not sure if it’s the final list.

For those who don’t know Tomorrow, When the War Began follows the journey of Ellie and a group of seven others who band together to fight when Australia is invaded by an unknown enemy. There are seven books in the series. Renowned screenwriter Stuart Beattie, whose credits include Australia and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, will write and direct.

Latest New Moon Trailer

Posted by SalesianLibrary on September 15, 2009

I just found and watched the new Twilight: New Moon trailer and it looks really good. It shows a bit more of the Voltari and Bella’s reaction to Edward leaving. I think this is the first trailer so far for this movie that’s made me excited about it. Not long to go now!

Great websites

Posted by SalesianLibrary on September 14, 2009

While browsing around on the internet the other day I came across some great websites which I wanted to share with you all.

The first website is a very simple but helpful one, called OttoBib. This helpful little resource will help you generate a bibliography for any books you have used. All you have to do is enter the ISBN into the bar, choose which type of bibliography you need to make up and click Get Citations. Too easy!

Next is a website called MondoLibrary which is an image library. It contains photos which have been catagorised under the headings People, Society, Earth and Special. The site describes the photos as ‘award-winning, fair trade photography for the public interest community’. You may find these royalty-free images helpful for your next assignment or presentation.

Notely is another great website which contains all the tools a student could need. You can store you schedule, calendar, notes, homework plan and more on here. It’s a great tool if you want to get organised with your schoolwork.

Another great image website, that you might already know about, is GettyImages. All you have to do here is sign up to become a member and you have access to millions of royalty-free photos and images that you can use. GettyImages also contains footage and music that you might be interested in using.

I’ll try to post more of these websites on a regular basis.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief Trailer

Posted by SalesianLibrary on September 3, 2009

I haven’t read any of the Percy Jackson books but I’m still excited to see that a movie has been made from the series. It’s been made by the director of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and Philosopher’s Stone. The trailer looks pretty cool, even though it’s only a teaser one. But check it out!

One blog that I love is called Windowpane Memoirs which contains lots of great reviews as well as eye candy for book lovers. They also run some fantastic competitions which is why I’m posting about them on here. At the moment, through Windowpane Memoirs, you can win a $50 Amazon gift card! It’s a great prize and it’s very easy to enter the competition. All you have to do is go to http://windowpane-memoirs.com/2009/08/31/arcs-contest to find out more!

Good luck!
